PIANO 27
The request to design an apartment with rooms for a family of six and two live-in helpers is addressed by organizing the private areas for the different groups (parents, children, and helpers) around a large central space that hosts the shared functions: dining room, living area, and a formal kitchen.
On this central hall conceived as a neutral envelope, finished in travertine and olive wood, are three thresholds, each marked by distinct materialities, signaling the entrances to the three private zones.
The black travertine counter, whose form draws inspiration from the steps of Magistretti’s Casa Arosio, becomes the central point of convergence.
