Urban Design for the Redevelopment of an Industrial Area

The transformation of the building complex is strongly guided by a broader vision of the urban fabric, aiming to reconnect two previously isolated areas and to give the buildings a more urban, less industrial character. The relationship with the context is seen as an opportunity to construct a pedestrian urban fabric that links to the existing square of the adjacent complex.

The intervention integrates into the context as a piece in continuity with the current heterogeneity of the open-block fabric. The ground design includes green basins, a grid of lighting points, and new pedestrian pathways; it also incorporates the ground-level interface of the buildings, with the aim of reconstructing a pedestrian urban texture.
